Our School and Community


Located on the Westside of Colorado Springs at the foot of Pikes Peak overlooking Garden of the Gods, Coronado High School opened in the fall of 1970 and is one of four high schools in Colorado Springs School District 11. Colorado Springs is home to the United State Air Force Academy, the Olympic Training Center, Colorado College, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and Pikes Peak State College. Our School and Community Student Government, Sports, and Clubs College Admissions Test Scores Career and College Bound Class of 2024 Coronado is a comprehensive high school for grades nine through twelve. Accredited by the Colorado Department of Education, Coronado boasts one of the finest Advanced Placement and CU Succeed programs in the state with 30 courses offering 90 available postsecondary credit hours, taught on campus with university-qualified Coronado teachers. Career and Technology Education is a priority and we offer several pathways with certifications including Computer Science, Business Marketing, Engineering, Drones, Industrial Arts, and Construction. Home to phenomenal Visual and Performing Arts curriculum, we have award-winning jazz band, wind ensemble, orchestra, drama, and six outstanding choirs. Coronado is a member of the Rocky Mountain Association of College Admission Counseling, the College Board, the Colorado School Counselor Association, and the Colorado Council on High School/College Relations.

Student Government, Sports, and Clubs


Coronado supports its students and student organizations in their academic and community endeavors. A dynamic Student Government encourages school spirit through activities and participation, 23 boys’ and girls’ seasonal sports teams, and 37+ student-directed organizations from Robotics to Yearbook, provide a wealth of opportunity for our high school community. Many of Coronado’s clubs encourage competitions both locally and state-wide, and opportunities for community service are endless.

Class Rank

Beginning with the Class of 2022, students are awarded via the Latin Honor System as follows: Summa Cum Laude (with highest honor): 4.10+ GPA, Magna Cum Laude (With Great Honor): 3.90 GPA, cum laude (With Honor): 3.75 GPA. Students will be ranked together on all subjects taken in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. Results of all curses taken will be included in determining GPA and class ranking. College Career Readiness Demonstration (CCRD) began with the Class of 2022.
